Join AACIT

This page gives a summary of the steps needed for a new member to join the Caltech/JPL Flying Club and begin instruction.

The Paperwork

First, you need to obtain and fill out a number of forms:

Member Information Form
Flight Proficiency Record
Release Form
Voting Proxy
Information Release

Get these forms, as well as a copy of the Rules and Procedures from the secretary, Erik Monson. Once the forms are filled out, get them back to a board member.

Pay the Treasurer

Next, you must pay a deposit (refundable), an initiation fee (waived for CIT students), and your first month's dues. Send this payment to the secretary along with your completed application. The next step depends on your status, as described in the Rules and Procedures.

Approval Process

Member of the Caltech Community (student, faculty member, alumni, employee, or retiree of Caltech/JPL, or have an immediate family member who is)- Barring any problems on your application forms, you are ready to begin instruction.

Ready to Fly

Get an instructor- You may now fly with a club approved instructor for a checkout in our aircraft, or for training. Contact our flight director, Kevin Baines, to find an instructor.
